In 1938, in Alexandria, young British principal and poet Darley made friends with the beautiful and mysterious wife of a Coptic banker, Justine, through the British Consulate Officer Pursewalden. He observed her heart and accidentally discovered that she was involved in a conspiracy against the British aimed at arming the Jewish underground organization in Palestine.
